IAMGOLD Needs 86,000 Côté Ounces in Q4 to Reach 2026 Guidance Floor

IAMGOLD’s Côté Gold mine must deliver 86,000 attributable ounces in the fourth quarter to reach the bottom of the company’s 2026 production guidance, following a third-quarter result that leaves little room below the annual target.

The company reported October 21 that Côté produced 64,400 attributable ounces in the third quarter and 184,000 attributable ounces in the first nine months of 2026. IAMGOLD said it now expects full-year attributable output at the lower end of its 270,000–310,000-ounce guidance range. 1

The arithmetic makes the year-end test clear. Subtracting the reported 184,000 ounces from the 270,000-ounce bottom of guidance leaves 86,000 ounces required in the final quarter. That is 21,600 ounces more than Côté produced in the July-to-September period, or roughly 34% above the latest quarterly output.

The target is not an indication that Côté will produce 86,000 ounces. It is the minimum implied by IAMGOLD’s stated annual range and its reported year-to-date production. Any outcome below that threshold would place annual output below guidance, while a result at exactly 86,000 ounces would merely deliver the low end of the forecast.

Management’s explanation for the expected fourth-quarter increase rests on two operating drivers: higher grades from mine sequencing and increased processing rates. 1 Both are important because they address different parts of the production equation. Higher grades can raise contained gold delivered through the plant for a given amount of ore, while higher processing rates can increase the volume of material treated. But those are company expectations for the remaining quarter, rather than reported fourth-quarter production.

Côté’s third-quarter output was also 92,000 ounces on a 100% basis, compared with IAMGOLD’s 64,400 attributable ounces based on its 70% interest. The company reported 262,900 ounces on a 100% basis for the first nine months and framed full-year mine output at 390,000–440,000 ounces on the same basis. 1 On that measure, reaching the low end would imply 127,100 ounces of fourth-quarter mine production. The attributable and 100%-basis figures should not be mixed when judging progress against guidance.

The update shifts attention from the broad annual range toward whether operating improvements are evident quickly enough to produce a materially stronger final quarter. Côté does not need to reach the former top end of guidance for IAMGOLD to meet its current expectation; the company has specifically guided investors toward the bottom of the range. Yet the required increase from the third quarter is substantial enough that grade delivery and processing performance will be central to the year-end outcome.

IAMGOLD hosted analysts and institutional investors at Côté on October 22, immediately after the operating update, with management scheduled to discuss operations and optimization initiatives. 1 The next formal results cycle will provide the more consequential test: whether the expected higher grades and processing rates translated into payable gold ounces, and whether the mine cleared the 270,000-ounce attributable threshold.

The wider Canadian gold-producer reporting calendar is also concentrated in late October and early November, increasing focus on production volumes and cost performance across the sector. 3 For IAMGOLD, however, the immediate measurable issue is narrower: Côté needs 86,000 attributable ounces in one quarter to convert management’s lower-end guidance expectation into a delivered full-year result.
