B2Gold says a mobile crushing circuit at its Goose mine in Nunavut has averaged more than 3,000 tonnes of ore a day since mid-August, restoring interim ore-handling capacity after an April fire disrupted the fixed plant. The company retained its 2026 Goose production forecast of 170,000 to 200,000 ounces, but the crusher recovery remains an operating milestone rather than proof that the full-year target has been secured. 1
The mobile plant, commissioned in August after arriving on site in July, cost approximately US$16 million including supporting equipment. B2Gold reported the rate in a September 28 update, ahead of planned completion of fixed-plant repairs and the first upgrade phase in mid-October. That work includes a new run-of-mine mass-flow bin and apron feeder, larger jaw crusher and rock breaker, as well as repairs to fire-damaged conveyor equipment. Phase 1 was budgeted at approximately US$11 million. 1
The fixed circuit is expected to average 3,200 tpd after the initial work, compared with the mobile unit’s demonstrated average above 3,000 tpd. Those figures describe crushing capacity and ore movement, not mill throughput or ounces produced. Gold output will also depend on the grade and metallurgical recovery of ore delivered to the plant, equipment availability and stockpile management. 1
B2Gold plans to run both crushers during October and, weather permitting, into winter to supply the mill and build crushed-ore inventory. A semi-permanent enclosure is being erected around the mobile plant to support cold-weather operations. This matters at a remote Arctic site where seasonal access, maintenance and operating conditions can constrain the availability of contingency equipment. 1
The longer-term upgrade is not finished. Phase 2 is scheduled for the first half of 2027 and is expected to require up to ten weeks of fixed-crusher downtime. It will add larger secondary and tertiary cone crushers, surge bins and upgraded conveyors, with the aim of reaching the 4,000-tpd design rate. The company expects stockpiles and the mobile unit to protect mill feed during that shutdown; it has not yet demonstrated that protection through a full winter and the subsequent upgrade period. 1
The September release also reported drilling across the Back River district, including Llama, Nuvuyak, Tattuk and George. Those results could support later resource conversion and mine-life planning, but they should be analysed separately from the immediate crushing and production problem. 1
For investors, the measurable sequence is straightforward: commission the repaired fixed circuit, show that it sustains roughly 3,200 tpd, maintain mill feed through winter and prepare enough inventory for the 2027 shutdown. The mobile plant has reduced the near-term throughput risk; it has not eliminated the remaining ramp-up and operating challenges. 1
